Basic DBS Check
The Basic DBS Check is for anyone and everyone. No matter how big or small your organisation is or the industry you operate in, the Basic DBS Check empowers you to learn more about the people you are recruiting or those you already have within your company.
(Psst…this also shows great due diligence on your part!)
The resulting certificate contains impartial and confidential criminal history information held by the Police National Computer and government departments and shows details of unspent conditional cautions or convictions. This can be applied for as an individual or used by employers to make safer recruitment decisions.
We guarantee it’ll be money well spent on ensuring you protect your business against any threats which could be identified by carrying out a Basic DBS Check. The process is quick with checks processed within 14 days.
Build the Basic DBS Check into your future recruitment process and get to know more about your potential employees, temporary staff and contractors before you commit to bringing them into your business.
Standard DBS Check
The Standard DBS check is available for many selected duties, positions and licences.
It’s essential for roles within the Courts and Tribunal offices, solicitors, accountants, employment within a prison or the security Industry.
Standard disclosures contain details of all recorded convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings recorded on the Police National Computer.
It’s also suitable for certain job roles with the NHS. These certificates are also processed quickly, usually within 14 days.
Enhanced DBS Check
As the name suggests, enhanced disclosures involve an added level of inspection.
In addition to checks with the Police National Computer these checks are searched against local police force records, the Department for Education and Skills and the Department of Health and are used for roles that involve regulated activity with children or vulnerable adults.
Enhanced disclosures may also be issued for those seeking judicial appointments. These certificates typically take 2-8 weeks to be issued from the date that they go onto the DBS’ system.
The Disclosure and Barring Service also maintains two barred lists. The Adults barred list and the Children’s barred list. The crucial job of the barred list is to ensure that a ‘barred’ individual does not work with either children or adults in any regulated activity role. The barred list can only used in conjunction with an enhanced DBS and is the highest level of check.
The enhanced DBS check with barred list check is used for roles such as Teaching, Healthcare and Social Care.
DBS Adult First Check
The Adult First check is exclusive to the health and care sector, allowing employers recruiting for posts that involve working with vulnerable adults to check whether a potential employee appears on the adults barred list.
Depending on the result, a person can be permitted to start work, under supervision, with adults, before the DBS certificate has been obtained.
Volunteer DBS
Organisations that receive the time and effort of valuable volunteers do not pay the DBS fee and with us you are only required to pay the administration costs of £16.00 (VAT incl) per application applied for on behalf of somebody undertaking a voluntary role.
The DBS are strict with their definition of a voluntary role.
If your oganisation depends on volunteers that require a DBS, speak to our knowledgable support team who will guide you through the process.
